The Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League announced Sunday the team would adopt a new name and identity following the 2016-17 season.

The Lakers' D-League affiliate will now be known as the South Bay Lakers when they move into the new UCLA Health Training Center next season.  The team has played at Toyota Sports Center, also in El Segundo, California, since 2011, having previously played at Staples Center with their parent team.

The logo and official name change should come following the season.
